So you mean to tell me that a full auto assault rifle does more damage at longer distances than the Glu-5 semi rifle? That I cannot even blame on poor programming, this is just blatant ignorance of how a gun works that just defies all common sensibilities...the common logic for semi vs. full auto assault not even a trend that exists in gaming so I can't believe ccp is doing it to be hi-tech and cool with their weapons...even guns in the real world knows that a semi has more control, range, and deals more damage per bullet than a full auto assault ever will. I can't even explain in every detail of how a gun works, but 9/10 people know that a semi is supposed to have the superior advantages at range and accuracy.
I know assault rifles are the standard and are supposed to be really good and everyone's complaints about it being op can be explained with damage mods and proficiency...but holy **** this semi vs. full auto thing ...ccp learn how guns work if you're not doing this on purpose. |

Well yes of course! cus semi auto are supposed to have more power than a full auto, as well as more control, which full autos seem to also have wrong kinda...I mean it yeah AR's arent horribly wrong, but each type should represent their unique properties based on how their real counterparts actually work...and the full auto trumps the semi auto in just about every aspect...and in a previous post i mentioned that they screw up the glu 5's representation..yet the scrambler rifle acts exactly like how a normal semi rifle should at those ranges..which I find completely confusing.

that's a good theory..but not so much an explanation of the physics, sir. and if thats true then why do 3 burst pistols have far less range than the semi auto scrambler pistol? and shot guns in this game sorta act like shotguns (well sorta...shot guns irl will definately also kill from further ranges) but EXPLAIN TO MEEEHHH! |

**** you mean?! my AR is laying down at the foot of my bed drinking milk from its bowl...and playing with its ball of yarn.

and the scrambler pistols are electrolasers they are an entirely different classification. they use a laser with a precise frequency to create a plasma channel(not the same thing as a "bullet" of plasma from a gallente weapon.) which allows the transfer of massive electrical energy at nearly 100% efficiency(somewhere around less than 1% resistance) think of it as weaponized lightning.
I must go watch this video o,0, that sounds quite the badass.
But i can sooorta see your point, but at the same time the scrambler rifle (which I assume uses the same type of ammo) shoots further/harder than just about most other mid range weapons that dont have any profienciency or damage mods,I think even a basic gek 38 falls a bit short. and though the 3-burst pistol has no range (but is a beast in cqc) the assault scrm pistol for example is no joke at ranges either, though I may have take into account the exponential headshot damage they do.
But yeah like..I'm not trying to offend I'm seriously trying to learn more about how the weaponry in this game works and why it seems so random bot fantasy and real world like. I'm a bit of a sci fi fanatic and I look at rail guns, plasma based weapons, and basic type weapons all the time and it's hard to tell the exact workings of these weapons as most sci fi based stuff caaannn be fullo crok crap. but this game has just about the most random stats and properties for weapons that I have ever seen in a sci-fi weaponry based game, about the only weapon types that makes sense to me is the rail gun tech and explosives. buuutt I know this game has a crap ton of lore behind it, but at the same time this game has been known for trying to pull off some craptastic stunts.

Like..my logic for this particular post was
Shotgun- acts like a shotgun typically in most games..and i think its a hybrid wep pistols- **** yeah they act like pistols, burst and semi are legit. mass drivers- **** YEAH! sniper rifle and other rail gun wep- OF COURSE! wrath of metal gear. scrambler rifles- HOLY SHIIIIITTT! they are so semi auto! assault rifles- kinda tooo easy to aim/kill with for what it is with but it's an mmo so its nice glu-5 - wait whu? why is this weapon so inefficient?why is the clip so small!? why is it's range so short!? why am i being killed in a second from the full auto at this long ass range when i shot the guy first!? its a god damn mid ranged sniper rifle for chrissakes!? why am I so much better at range with a full auto than a semi auto thats purpose is supposed to be for marksmanship!?! WHAT IS THIS!?! **** THIS LOGIC! |

though, in this game, the railguns are entirely BS. at the GJ ratings they use for tank turrets, they should be ripping those buildings on the field in half and have no noticable travel time or drop.
Hmm...That whole first statement is probably the most legit explanation for this game's logic I have read so far, and I will settle with this. also that backs up why scrambler pistols deal so much headshot damage...thouuuugghh, still doesnt quite explain the AR's situation since they use the same ammo <,<. but fuggit ...i dont think anyone but ccp's weapons programmer's can explain it and i doubt they even know honestly, well..apparently the glu5 was uber OP at some point and they nerfed it too much is what I heard some say.

And also true! well..I dunno about the rail guns, they kinda are supposed to be able to send particles flying at the speed of **** you. the only thing I dont like about the forge rail gun is that it doesnt really leave a trail, so very often I cant tell where the fuckin heavy sniping me is coming from which is a little annoying. and yeah the rail gun instilations on ground and on vehicles are fairly pathetic as weapons, especially when some of them are supposed to be rail guns. but hey gotta give passengers something to do? |

Meeko Fent wrote:The plasma is contained in a magnetic containment field, however the containment field deterates rapidly causing short range but leaving high damage potential at that range. Yes I do physics.
The Tac puts more plasma in each shots, resulting in higher damage and reduced deterioration over range.
I feel that the Tac should have the same optimal as the regular, only with hugely long falloff compared to the assault, and a much lower falloff rate.
If you agree with physics.
YES SOMEONE THAT KNOWS!
I mean I dont actively do physics but as an artist and sci fi enthusiast i pick up on things, at least enough to know that the glu-5 to gek 38 range/power stats is complete dildos.
I agree with you as far as optimal goes, as with their realistic counterparts, they should have relatively similar stats/results, just shorter ranges with increased damage...but can you explain to me what falloff is? That I dunno what to say to.

Current rail guns: less than 1gj of impact force. roughly as destructive as a cruise missile. Dust rail guns: 80gj impact force, less destructive than a hand held version(forge gun) less widespread than a mass driver shell. and it's not particles, it's a payload, currently(IRL version), it's a 7 pound aluminum slug.
Yeah ...yet another thread of WHAT THE **** IS WITH THIS WEAPON that can be discussed over, though...the forge gun is a charge shot, and i will admit that though the blaster rail gun installations somehow have less blast radius than both the forge gun and mass driver (i'm gonna give ccp the benifit of a doubt that they are balancing), it will likely kill when it hits.. like I said earlier I dun even know if the ccp weapon devs can explain what they are doing.
And sorry, when I said particles I meant it as a general statement for any type of projectile object >.< DOH! |

Awww, thank you kind person...but yeah if I don't know it I dont know it, and no shame to it! its better to admit not knowing than to act like an obnoxious prick, embarrassing themselves the whole time trying to sound intelligent...and so when i do actually learn it, I can school those pretentious buttholes. but..mostly it's for my own self improvement.

Cosgar wrote:The standard AR is simply too accurate in its effective range. Judging by how fixes have been snowballing since 1.0, kick and dispersion were balanced around the range hard cap. The new range system came in and no adjustments were made to compensate for their over effectiveness. 1.4-.1.6 sealed the deal and ARs can now deal their full DPS in about a second, putting it on the level of game breaking. The emergency 10% damage buff and how kick and dispersion mechanics work, or better yet don't work only makes things even worse.
And before anyone tries to re-direct my argument by saying the 10% buff was for the weaponry skill, remember that the skill is still blank and that aiming and hit detection was so bad in 1.0 that ambushes ended based on time.
Oh snap I'm just now reading this!
Well yeah, those are also so pretty legit arguments as well, and would also lend itself to explaining the issue of my topic...oy i'm not trying to make a thing outta saying ccp learn how gun works...but dangit the balancing in this game is so...well you know what i'm talking about now pretty much... =.= |
